"Beaches" is the tale of two women and their enduring friendship through the years. Wealthy but sheltered young Hillary Whitney (Barbara Hershey) first meets poor but talented child star CC Bloom (Bette Midler) in Atlantic City when the girls are 11 years old. They quickly become best friends whose differences fascinate each other, for they both find faults in their own lives. Living vicariously through each other’s letters, the girls remain friends well into their adult years, when they meet again in New York City. All grown up, their friendship is tested in the years that follow by men, money, mistakes, and jealousy as their once glittering outlook on life is forever changed by the personal choices and glaring differences they face.
